According to a news report Windows XP got another extension from Microsoft. The operating system which was launched in January 2001 will be available till June 2009.
This in itself a record. As by May 2009, XP will be in the market for 90 months(7 and 1/2 years); while its predecessors had 60 month(5 years) market presence on an average.
XP has got the extension for the fourth time; as its successor, Vista, is not received well by the users. The successor of Vista is windows 7 that'll be hitting the market in early 2010.
The cold user response to Vista can be seen from the fact that 46 out of 100 IT shops will trade it for Window 7 as soon as it becomes available.
