Nintendo cuts Wii price by $ 50

By A Bisht

We did a Nintendo post some time in April; it told the readers about the Nintendo’s move of not following Microsoft’s and Sony’s price reduce decisions.

In the middle of the same post, we had predicted that although Nintendo would not be making a price reduction very soon; the top maker of the current generation of video game consoles could not delay the decision for too long and one can safely expect the reduction in prices in the last quarter of this year.

Nintendo Co Ltd. has indeed decided to cut the price of its Wii video game console by $50 to $199.99, starting Sunday. A 20 percent cut from the existing price-- $ 250.

Among peers Nintendo is last to effect the price cut.

In August, Microsoft Corp slashed $100 off the price of its high-end Xbox 360 console and Sony Corp cut the price of its PlayStation 3 by $100.

New prices:

Xbox 360 and PS3—Starting price about $300

Wii-- $200

--Sony gained from price cut, Microsoft has still to see the result. --------
