Worldwide IT spending in 2010__________$3.4 trillion
Worldwide IT spending in 2009__________$3.2 trillion
Increase compared to 2009__________5.3 percent

Gartner feels that the IT industry will continue to show steady growth in 2011 as well, with IT spending in 2011 projected to surpass $3.5 trillion, a 4.2 percent increase from 2010.

However, if the projected decline in the value of the dollar relative to last year, is taken into account then the worldwide IT spending in exchange-rate-adjusted dollars will grow 1.6 percent (and not 5.3 percent) in 2010, after declining 1.4 percent in 2009. --------
