BSNL brings Apple iPad to India

Apple is bringing its iconic tablet device to India. And it's not some fancy private telecom company that's bringing it. It's the Indian Governemt run BSNL or Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.

Apple has tied up with government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited to launch the tablet in the country.

Price and Availability: Apple iPad will hit retail stores (Apple's premium retailers) across the country on January 28 2011 and will be available in Wi-Fi or 3G+Wi-Fi versions.

According to a report in The Telegraph, a cutomer has to pay between Rs 26,000 to Rs 33,000 for the Wi-Fi version of iPad. While the 3G+Wi-Fi version will be priced between Rs 33,000 to Rs 44,000.

Both versions will come in three capacities, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

BSNL will initially be offering 3G data plans for the tablet in Maharahstra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, UP (East), UP (West), Chennai and Kolkata telecom circles.

Apple iPad was launched in US in April 2010, and the next iteration of tehg device is expected to be launched in US this summer. --------
