Yesterday Google guys played a April Fools joke on the world by launching a non-existing product the Gmail Motion, that allows a gmail user to control his/her gmail using body gestures. The joke was an indirect attempt to take a dig on Microsoft's motion gaming peripheral, Kinect.
The joke was quite elaborate, with a very real looking beta page and supporting videos.
But, with in 24 hours later, a group of researchers who found the ideas shared in the elaborate Gmal motion joke quite useful, have managed in getting the Xbox 360 Kinect sensor to work with Windows applications, turning the mix into a real and exiting Gmail Motion. The researchers managed to put up a good show. Notably, the kinect hack has ensured that it uses the same body movements used in the Gmail April fools joke:
