India celebrated teachers' Day yesterday. The day celebrates former Indian president and Academic Dr. S Radhakrishnan's Birthday. Dr. Radhakrishnan was a teacher himself.
On the eve of Teachers' Day, HDFC Bank yesterday announced the launch of a credit card for teachers.
What the Card Offers:
Special features like multiple reward points, weekend bonanza points, petrol surcharge waiver and 500 special gift reward points to be credited annually on the Teachers day.
Education Sector is a Key Sector for India in the coming Years:
There are more than 450 million students in India and the sector is growing at a rate of 10-15 percent expected over the next decade. This makes Credit card for teachers a wise move.
This is what Parag Rao, Senior Executive Vice President, Business Head, Credit Cards & Merchant Acquiring Services, HDFC Bank, said on the launch,
"Like the doctor's credit card that we launched recently, HDFC Bank's Teachers Credit Card is a small token of appreciation towards lakhs of teachers across India who play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of millions of children,"
