Sony Ericsson unveils LiveView: A small wireless Android viewer
Sony Ericsson has unveiled the LiveView, a small display with remote-control functionality that wirelessly links to the user's Android phone. The device, currently powered with Android 2.0 Operating system, displays and controls tasks ranging from text messages and music playback to Facebook and Twitter updates.

The LiveView uses Bluetooth to pair with a handset, allowing the user to read text messages, see incoming calls and view Facebook and Twitter updates without the need to take out the phone. The device is quite small, having 1.3 inch OLED display screen and 128X128 pixel resolution, can be comfortably put on the wrist, just like a wrist watch.

Live View can control music playback on select Sony Ericsson Android phones such as the Xperia X10 Mini Pro, and view calendar reminders and RSS feeds. Other useful applications will be incorporated with Live View in coming days and months.

LiveView will cost around €60 (£52). The device, should be available in the fourth quarter of 2010. ---------

Logitec Unveils LBT-PCHP02: the World’s Smallest Bluetooth Earphones
Logitec has unveiled the Logitec LBT-PCHP02, a pair of Bluetooth earphones which weigh only 1/3 of an ounce (10 grams approx). The existing Bluetooth earphones from various manufacturers range from 5 ounces (145 gms) to 1 pound(454 grams).

The tiny earphones are rated as Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and should be neat for use with various portable media players.


Logitec LBT-PCHP02 comes with earpieces in small, medium or large sizes and are equipped with adjusters making them easy to use and fit around a user’s neck. In addition to listening to music, LBT-PCHP02 can also be used to answer or make calls while also listening to some tunes at the same time.

With a battery life that is good for 4 hours and colors (black, gold, pink and silver) Logitec LBT-PCHP02 cost $54 a pair. ---------

Look out for Bluetooth 3 and 4 in 2010-11
Two new Bluetooth versions will emerge by 2011: Bluetooth 3 will introduce 802.11 as a bearer for faster data transmission, and Bluetooth 4 will introduce a new low-energy (LE) mode that will enable communication with external peripherals and sensors.

Other technical improvements in both versions include:

a) Improvement in battery life and security.

b) Bluetooth 3 facilitating corporate and consumer functions demanding large bandwidth (e.g., downloading images and videos from handsets).

c) Bluetooth 4 or LE will enable a range of new sensor-based business models in industries such as fitness, healthcare and environmental control and will be used by handset and PC peripherals to enable new functions, such as PCs that autolock when users move away from them. ---------

According to a study by Strategy analytics, the Bluetooth headset usage has declined in US.

Percentage of Bluetooth Headset users who use their devices everyday (at present)_____________26%

Percentage of Bluetooth Headset users who used their devices everyday in 2008_____________43%

Drop in Bluetooth headset usage compared to 2008_________Forty percent


However, daily usage in Europe increased slightly during the same period, to 36 percent. ---------
