According to the web analytics firm Statcounter,

The major players in the world mobile browser market, on the basis of total number of internet pages downloaded to mobile devices globally, in the month of May 2009; and their respective market share is as under:

Norway's Opera Software________________________24.6 percent

iPhone_________________________________________22.3 percent

Nokia__________________________________________17.9 percent


StatCounter said its study is based on four billion pages loaded per month. ---------

Some operating systems are better suited for browsing of mobile web sites than others.As a result people browse mobile websites on these more than on others.

According to Admob, quoted here, the share of different mobile device OSs in the total mobile web requests are:

iPhone OS_________________________________ 43 percent

Symbian OS_______________________________ 36 percent

Android OS________________________________ 3 percent ---------

Do Indians spend more time on PC web than Mobile Web

According to a study,

While the average time spend per week is higher for the web accessed through the computer, than through the mobile, the difference is not much and the web access through mobile will surely catch up in near future.

The average time spend per week by users who accessed the web through mobile: ___2.4 days a week (or 57.6 hours/week)

The average time spend per week by users who accessed the web through computers: __ 2.7 days a week (64.8 hours/week)
