The motions you make in your living room, standing in front of the gaming console and the Kinect, are done by your Gaming avatar in the game. This simply means allowing Windows users the chance to control their games and select apps without a controller. The second gen Microsoft kinect is out for preorder. Microsoft’s second generation Kinect for Windows is now available for pre-order and will start shipping from July 15, 2014. A long wait, after the Kinect Version one launch more than 2 years ago.

What Second Gen Kinect for Windows Offers !

Key improvement are :

Much Sharper Capture : A much sharper 1080p camera capable of picking up even more detail, infrared technology for low-light operation, and vastly improved response times. This means a much improved sensor.

Picks voice clearly : Four microphones for picking up voice commands without ambiguity.

USB 3.0 : Plugs into PC via USB 3.0, and requires a hub box and a separate power supply to run.

This is what Microsoft said about Second Gen Kinect for Windows , on its Blog,

"The Kinect for Windows v2 sensor gives developers more of the precision, responsiveness, and intuitive capabilities they need to develop interactive voice and gesture-based applications," 

What is for Developers ?

Developers will be able to use Kinect for Windows v2 in conjunction with the Kinect for Windows SDK 2.0 to create Windows Store apps with Kinect functionality for the first time. This new SDK will be launched as a public beta in July.

Microsoft claims that the device will be "available for general purchase later this year." During November December Festive Season.

Second Gen Kinect for Windows , when will Shipping began ?

The first limited batch of Kinect for Windows v2 devices has been put up on the Microsoft Store website. The Kinect 2 will cost £159 in the UK, and $199 in the US (Roughly 12000 Indian Rupees).

Kinect for Windows v2 is based on the second generation unit that was, until recently, packaged with every Xbox One console .

In the CES 2014, Intel demonstrated its Dual Boot Platform or Dual Boot Operating System (OS). The Intel's dual boot platform toggles Windows and Android, with the press of a button, announced Intel CEO Brian Krzanich.

3 percent of the PCs accessing web using Windows 7

In the first ten days of its official launch, Windows 7 has shown signs of strong early adoption.

According to Net Applications, more than 3 percent of PCs accessing the Web now are doing so using Windows 7.

But one cause of worry for Microsoft, is the Mac OS’s continuous encroachment on the Windows market share.

As of October, Windows had 92.5 percent of the worldwide operating system market, but Mac OS reached 5.27 percent, up from 5.12 percent in September. ---------

--Two years after Vista's release, not even 30 percent of PCs actually run the os.Among those which actually run Vista are almost exclusively the Home Premium version. That's, the home users who likely got Vista preinstalled on a new PC.

-- Company intranets are the Internet Explorer's hidden stronghold: Since most of the studies measure the public Internet use, the true picture regarding the IE usage is not found. But when the internal browser traffic on company intranets is measured,as Exo performance does, it is found that 85 percent of enterprise Windows users run IE for at least four hours a day.Thus irrespective of the fact that Firefox is giving some competition to IE in the public domain, Microsoft's browser continues to rule the intranet of the companies.

--Office 2007 now the dominant productivity suite for enterprise Windows users. Nearly 35 percent of Windows PCs run some variant of Office 2007.

--OpenOffice.org is making its presence felt: The open source productivity suite has captured nearly 13 percent of Windows PCs sampled.

--PC users do have the right congiguration to run Windows 7, scheduled to be available from Oct 22. ---------
