The global computing industry contributes 2 percent of global carbon emissions. The world aviation industry also contributes 2 percent of global carbon emissions.
In order to reduce the emissions, a number of IT companies are developing or upgrading power management technology, which can reduce the wastage of energy by turning off computers and other devices automatically, so that money, energy are saved and emissions are reduced.

Half of the computers in the UK, U.S. or Germany always remain switched on.If these computers are switched off when not in use, the total money saved in UK only will be 115 million pounds or Rupees 805 crore.
