According to Nasscom, the trade body for India's IT and BPO sector, owing to Satyam episode and global slowdown, the employment numbers for the industry will be lower than the expected target of 2.5-3 million or 25-30 Lakh by FY10.
Earlier the body had predicted that the by FY2010 the Indian IT industry would have employed about 2.5-3 million or 25-30 Lakh professionals directly.
