Sybase and SAP integrating Enterprise Apps with smartphones

Sybase and SAP AG are working together to bring more data to smartphone users. Both companies announced a partnership deal on Wednesday in New York City to bring Germany-based SAP's software to Apple's iPhone, Microsoft's Windows Mobile devices, Research In Motion's BlackBerry and other similar smartphone devices.

Sybase and SAP expect to eliminate the technology barriers faced by business professionals who want all the features and applications from their laptops to be available on their smartphones. SAP is providing its software and Sybase will provide its mobile infrastructure.

Sales professionals and mobile workers working in the field will get access to SAP's CRM (customer relationship management) solution which will provide them real-time data on their customers. This partnership will enable access to customer data in both online and offline modes with the help of Sybase's technology.

Both companies are trying to speed up the decision-making process and they will streamline their process of deploying and building the applications. But Enterprise applications customers will have to wait until the second half of this year for the first applications to be launched. Integrated services which will run across multiple devices will not be available until next year.
