Bing Boosts Microsoft's Share In The Search Market

According to a new report by StatCounter, Bing increased Microsoft's share of the U.S. search market by 1% in June. Microsoft claimed 8.23% of the search market slightly behind Yahoo which was at 11.04%.

Although Google is still the dominant player in the U.S. search market but Bing appears to be making an impact on the search giant. Before the launch of Bing in April, Google had 79.07% of the search market but in June, it dropped a little to 78.48%. Microsoft's U.S. search market share was 7.21% in April.

The latest buzz about Bing is that the new search engine might soon catch on with the Internet advertisers and mobile users. But Bing is mostly focused on helping customers shop for goods, do health-care research or simply help them make decisions. Its channeling its efforts on being the true decision engine.

The talk of Microsoft competing more effectively with Google is on the rise. There are even some rumors about Google's co-founder Sergey Brin assembling a team of top engineers to work on urgent updates to the site in response to Bing.
