According to Forrester Research Inc.,
U.S. online sales are expected to rise 8 percent this holiday season, with mass market retailers, offering discounts performing best.
The research firm expects the online retail sales in November and December to reach $44.7 billion this year, up from $41.4 billion a year ago.
This is some positive news to a retail industry that could see total sales fall.
Last holiday online retail sales rose only 5 percent, breaking a multiyear streak of double-digit gains.
Another report by The National Retail Federation, states that owing rising unemployment and decreased access to credit, 24 percent of online holiday buyers intend to try lower-cost alternatives to the brands they typically purchase.
