According to Morgan Stanley’s The Mobile Internet Report December 2009,
the mobile web will eventually be at least twice the size of Desktop Internet.
The firm attributes this to the increasing popularity of smartphones driven by 3G adoption.
In addition, the report predicts that:
-- Smartphones will out-ship the global notebook + netbook market in 2010.
-- Smartphones will out-ship the global PC market (notebook + netbook + desktop) by 2012.
Other predictions:
-- Apple's iPhone/iTouch/iTunes ecosystem may prove to be the fastest threatening and most disruptive technology product / service launch ever. (May be because the products encourage users to demand high bandwidth ).A very small players like Apple, Google, Amazon.com and Skype appear to be especially well positioned for mobile changes.
