Average global Broadband speed 2009

According to Akamai's latest State of the Internet report (published quarterly), globally, the average broadband speed currently is 1.7 Mbps. The speed has increased 13 percent since 2008.

South Korea, at number one place for many years now, now sees an average broadband speed of about 14.6Mbps (up 16 percent since 2008).

With average broadband speed of 3.9 Mbps U.S. is 18th out of 203 nations monitored. The broadband speed fell 2.4 percent from 2008 to 2009.

Countries in the top ten include-- Romania, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. All showing an year on year increase.
