More than half of LG smartphones in 2010 to have Android

The world’s Number 3 mobile phone maker (after Nokia and Samsung) LG Electronics Inc, plans to bring about 20 smartphones this year. More than half of these will have android operating system.

LG has plans to sell 140 million mobile phones this year. The company sold 117 million handsets last year. A 20 percent increase in sales compared to last year. This will enable the company get about 10 percent of the global market.

LG’s 2010 smartphone offerings would also include phones running on Microsoft Corp's Windows Mobile and LiMo's Linux-based software.

LG has aspirations to achieve a double-digit share of the global smartphone market by 2012. --------
