Wink e-Reader launched in India

Indian company EC Media International has launched its sparkling new e-reader: the Wink.

The device which looks like an older generation Kindle e-reader, has some really good things about it, like:

1) It'll reportedly support 15 languages and will offer 200,000+ (2 lakh +) book titles right at the time of launch.


2) It has the support of publishers like Penguin, Roli, Oxford University, Harper Collins and Permanent Black, and as expected, it'll also be pushed as a substitute for traditional newspapers and magazines.

According to Engadget, EC Media has chosen Croma as a retail partner and Redington as its primary distribution partner.

Wink Specs:

1) a 6-inch (800 x 600) e-paper display
2) 2GB of inbuilt storage
3) 802.11b/g WiFi
4) GPRS wireless connectivity
5) A battery good for 10,000 page turns (or 10 hours of music playback)
6) 3.5mm headphone jack
7) A USB 2.0 socket
8) Support for a wide variety of text and audio formats.
