Iomega has unveiled a new range of 1.8 inch USB 3.0 external Solid State Drives (hard disks). Iomega claims that, along with offering what’s touted as up to 10 times the performance of USB 2.0 drives, the new drives also offer built-in 256-bit hardware encryption. In addition they are rugged enough to tolerate drops from up to 10 feet.
Allows for transfer speeds of up to 5 gigabits per second (much higher than any standard rotating disk drives).
The Iomega External SSD Flash Drive USB 3.0 series:
1) are available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities
2) compatible with USB 2.0 standard too
3) A USB 3.0 adapter card is available at an additional cost in case you still in the USB2.0 era.
4) Industrial design, hardware encryption and the complete Iomega Protection Suite to protect users’ important files. The drives comes bundled with the complete Iomega Protection Suite that include v.Clone, Iomega QuikProtect, Roxio Retrospect Express as well as access to both the MozyHome Online Backup service and a complementary 1-year subscription to Trend Micro Internet Security for the PC, or Trend Micro Smart Surfing software for Mac.
Price: $229, $399 and $749 for the 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacity units respectively.
The new Iomega External SSD Flash Drive USB 3.0 series will be available from November.
