Cricket Sites see a surge in traffic in cricket crazy India

Indians are flocking to cricket sites in large numbers since the world cup cricket 2011 started. And as the event is inching towards the grand finale; visitations to the cricket sites are increasing.

According to comScore, a digital marketing intelligence platform, there is an increase in visitation to cricket sites in India during the 2011 Cricket World Cup for the latest results and match updates.

The report which releases the results from a study of Internet traffic to cricket websites, says that the sites reached their highest volume of traffic for the month during the week ended March 13.

Of all the Indian web users, 16.4 percent visited ESPN's cricket site, ESPNCricInfo.com, and 13.4 percent of web users visited Yahoo! Cricket. In number terms, about 6.93 million people visited ESPNCricInfo.com during the week ended March 13, an increase of 42 percent from the week ending February 20 when the tournament commenced.

The number of visitors to key sites during the march 13 weekend:

1) ESPNCricInfo.com ________6.93 million or 69.3 Lakh

2) Yahoo! Cricket____________5.68 million or 56.8 Lakh
An increase of 48 percent from the week ending February 20 when the tournament started

3) CricBuzz.com_____________1.18 million or 11.8 Lakh
An increase of 37 percent from the week ending February 20 when the tournament started

Will be great to see the numbers for the March 27 weekend. For obvious reasons. --------
