Plagiarism means, taking entire OR portions of someone else’s work in own dissertations and theses, as such without making citations (acknowledging the source).
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad can put a light on this.
JNTU-Hyderabad, who became the first Indian university in India to deploy a plagiarism detector, had run the thesis of 300 students on the detector software; and found 40 per cent of them to have plagiarized or copied the content.
The Plagiarism Detector
The students concerned were asked to resubmit their theses after deleting the plagiarized content, and if they fail to get their thesis approved for third time, the thesis will be rejected. --------
