When the device makers are hailing Android as their preferred choice of operating system for mobile devices, a Windows 7 device looks a bit odd. But going by the fact that most people are very comfortable with Windows OS in their Desktops, a tablet with Windows 7 should not be looked with raised brows.
MSI is bringing its tablet PC based on Windows 7 to the Indian market.
Named WindPad 100W, the tablet PC is the first Tablet from MSI.
Specs of WindPad 100W:
1) Runs on Windows 7 Home Premium OS
2) Powered by Intel Mobile Processor
3) Has a 10-inch screen supporting multitouch input and 1024 x 600 pixels resolution
4) 2GB DDR-11 RAM
5) Internal storage of 32GB, that is extendable via SD-card slot
6) Connectivity options include: Wi-Fi b/g/n, USB, mini HDMI and audio out
7) Has two cameras - one at the front(for video conferencing / webcam function) and the other at the rear(for taking still images and videos).
8) Has a G-sensor for automatic screen orientation (portrait and landscape)
9) Has ALS light sensor(automatic light sensor) for automatic screen brightness adjustment based on ambient light
10) Has a battery life of over six hours, when used
Although WindPad 100W Tablet PC has plenty of applications to enhance user-experience; but some notable features from software front, courtesy MSI, are: Letting a user use their own user interface called WindTouch UI take care of the interface instead of relying on the default Windows 7 interface. The WindTouch UI is designed with four functions in mind - work, entertainment, tools and network. The tablet comes preloaded with applications like MSI’s EasyViewer photo management program, a multimedia player (that works with MSN, Skype and IE), Windows Multimedia Center and a web phone.
In addition there are other unique applications as well like EasyFace for face recognition; and a Taskbar magnifier to make using the touch-interface with fingers easier. As expected, the Tablet PC also has Microsoft Office Starter that includes Office Word 2010 and Office Excel 2010 for tablets. Last but not the least, there’s also an Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash Player.
Price & Availability: The WindPad 100W will be sold exclusively at Ezone outlets at a price of Rs.34,990.
