Sony S1 and S2 Tablets to be launched in India, Europe next month

According to some reports, the Sony S1 and S2 tablets are being launched in India by next month (september). Sony is reported to be talking to most telecom operators in the country; and some reports indicate that the tablets may arrive at Idea.

European markets are expected to get the tablets by September as well.

Both Sony S1 and S2 run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb Operating System.

Sony S1 tablet specs: sports a 9.4-inch display with a form (tablet shape) that looks like a folded magazine. The tablet is equipped with a Tegra 2 SoC, graphical touch panel UI, a fast web browser, and both a front and a rear camera. The tablet also has an integrated infra-red that enables the device to act as a remote control for Sony gadgets. Four versions of S1 are available – 16 GB Wi-Fi model, a 16 GB Wi-Fi and 3G model, higher storage 32 GB Wi-Fi, and 32 GB Wi-Fi and 3G model. The tablet has a battery life comparable to IPad 2 and the display possesses TruBlack and Bravia Technology.

Sony S2 media tablet specs: sports a dual-screen featuring two 5.5-inch 1,024 x 480 pixel displays. The tablet is powered by Tegra 2 SoC and has a single camera. S2 is known for its custom book-style UI layout for its e-reader app and e-mail. The tablet comes in 16 GB and 32 GB models for the Wi-Fi and 3G variants.



Price: Both the tablets are expected to have a price tag of around Rs 29,000 ($640).
