Updated versions of Arnova 7, 10 inch Android tablets launched

Arnova , the brand under which the tablet maker Archos launched a new line of budget Android tablets which sold for $199 or less earlier this year, has received updated versions of its 7 and 10 inch tablets with newer software and slightly heavier specs.

The new tablets are namely, Arnova 10 G2, Arnova 7 G2, Arnova 7c G2.

Arnova 10 G2

A 10 inch tablet, and measures 10.6″ x 5.9″ x 0.5″ and weighs 1.3 pounds or around 500 grams. The new model runs on Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel capacitive multitouch display. The tablet is available in two storage options a 4GB and a 8GB version. The tablet has a a microSDHC card slot for extending storage.
The Arnova 10 G2 emphasises on multimedia, with support for 1080p H.264 video as well as support for MP4, RealVideo, and other video codecs including MKV, MOV, and FLV. The tablet has a speaker, mic, G-sensor, and a 720 pixel camera.

Arnova 7 G2

A 7 inch tablet, which measures 8″ x 4.2″ x 0.5″ and weighs just 0.8 pounds or 336 grams, is almost identical to Arnova 10 G2. Points of divergence is a smaller, lower resolution display. The Arnova 7 G2 has a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel capacitive touchscreen dsiplay. Like the 10 inch tablet, it runs on Android 2.3 operating system, has an ARM Cortex-A8 processor, and comes in two versions a 4GB and a 8GB storages. It too can handle H.264 video playback with resolutions up to 1080p as well as other video codecs.

Arnova 7c G2

First Arnova tablet to be compatible with 3G network. The tablet which looks similar to Arnova 7, and measures 7.7″ x 4.6″ x 0.6″ and weighs about 1.1 pounds; also supports GPS and Bluetooth. The tablet runs on Google Android 2.3, has a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel capacitivee multitouch display, and comes with 4GB of storage. One major difference between Arnova 7 G2 and 7c G2 is that, the Arnova 7c G2 runs on a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor. The processor which runs at 600 MHz or 800MHz, is relatively slower than the processor in the Arnova 7 G2, says UG.
