After its hugely successful IPO, LinkedIn, a social network for professionals, is on path to expand its operations in India, a country having the distinction of second-largest user base after the United States.
Today, LinkedIn, which boasts of 135 million members worldwide and over 12 million in India, established a technology center in India’s city of Bangalore.
The Bangalore Center will be the only center outside LinkedIn’s headquarters in Mountain View, California.
LinkedIn’s India jourbey so far:
LinkedIn came to India in late 2009. Right now the social network for professionals has about 100 employees in three Indian cities -- Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore – making for approximately 5 percent of LinkedIn employees worldwide ( 1,797 employees worldwide).
The Bangalore R&D center, will employ about 35 engineers by the end of this year, will help build and operate the company's core products and applications.
