iOS Live Photos, GIFs and Effective social Sharing for Professionals, and All!

Compared to 10 years ago, we humans are communicating complex emotions with lesser text today. This actually explains why we are using emojis (emoticons such as smileys etc.), images and videos more than ever. The role played by the ability to share big data online may have also fueled the trend; but there is a visible trend in terms of communication as well.

Thus, it's no surprise social networks are going by the flow and encouraging such shares.

Device makers are also bringing native features to how photos are shot with more meaning and shared with more ease.

With its iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models, Apple brought a new feature, called Live Photos.

By default, the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models came with the Live Photos feature enabled in the native camera app.

Said in simple, Live Photos ,which shows as three concentric rings icon on the top middle of the home screen (and can be disabled easily if one wishes to); gets enabled every time you click a photo; and a 1.5 seconds of video is shot both before and after the still image.

This results in a total of three seconds of video footage captured in addition to the still image.

While viewing the image (by a long press which makes use of 3D feature), you will see the image with the three seconds of video footage, complete with sound.

The latest iOS 9.1 includes an update for Live Photos, which now senses when the iPhone is raised or lowered to refrain from recording unnecessary movements.

That said, App developers outside the Apple fold are trying to make a better use of Live Photos Feature.

The idea is to connect the feature to GIF virtue. GIF images are images which are meant for easy sharing online. This was the basic idea when the image format came nearly 30 years ago.

GIF image format is best suited for sharing images online and by other means, owing to its very low file size, compared to other image formats.

A new App called , Live GIF allows an iOS user to do that. The Live Gif App converts iOS live photos to GIF. You can find the app here.
