Technology journalists from around the world are getting ready to gather in Cupertino, California on Tuesday, March 17 to catch a glimpse of an upcoming iPhone 3.0. The preview session is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Pacific time in Building 4, Town Hall. A number of tech websites are covering the event via live blogging and Twittering.
In the absence of details from Apple about the new iPhone-many tech journalists are just pondering upon what Apple might talk about.
The things they are speculating about are:
--Some basic iPhone usability improvements like a feature to copy/paste from one application to another.
--the ability to send multimedia text messages.
--expanded Bluetooth capabilities.
--or even the ability to tether the iPhone to laptops and provide a cellular data connection when there is no Wi-Fi available.
It is also expected that Apple may announce the introduction of a true global search capability, perhaps off an icon on the iPhone home page.
Major concern of the journalists:
--whether Apple will be willing to loosen the reins slightly to let application developers to push updates directly onto the phones of their subscribers rather than having them to go through the Apple's App Store.
In addition, the journalists will also get a chance to learn about the new SDK(Software Development Kit). There have been growing complaints in the recent weeks about Apple's slow response in renewing developer contracts. It seems like the new SDK may be the cause of the delay.
All these speculations and expectations about the new iPhone may or may not come true. I guess we all will have to wait and see.
