Less than 20 percent "workplace Internet leisure browsing" increases productivity: Study

If you are among those who holds the perception that surfing the Internet during office hours is counter productive. Then the results of a study will make you think again.

According to a study, internet surfing for less than 20 percent of the total office time, for fun during office hours increases productivity. Indulgence above 20 percent or any kind of internet addiction is counter-productive.

The study shows that people who use the Internet for personal reasons at work are about 9 percent more productive than those who do not.

The simple explanation goes like this, "A child can study well, if he/she takes breaks in between his or her studies ". Like children, taking breaks for leisure browsing, helps employees to sharpen their concentration.

An interesting revelation of the study:

70 percent of people who use the Internet at work, engage in WILB or "workplace Internet leisure browsing".
