Google Trends looking utterly Stupid in front of Bing xRank: Trends vs xRank comparison

By A Bisht & Mani Raj

A lot is being said about how good Bing is. After surpassing Yahoo in the US search market, Bing is threatening Google's dominance, feature by feature, if not over all.

The case in point is proved by a comparison of the Google Trends and Microsoft bing xRank.

Just to make things a bit simple,xRank performs the same function for Microsoft Bing; which Google Trends performs for Google.

Both features display search trends for their respective search engines.

The Bing's lead over Google in the search trends became evident, when today we did a search for Michael Jackson on the Google Trends and Bing xRank.

While Bing is showing the following news under News results, section on the trends page:

Jackson children "fantastic": grandfather
Hindustan Times 6/28/2009

Legal fight looms over custody of Jackson's children

In addition to the following three news pieces that Bing presents as mantle piece:

Jun 26 Michael Jackson Dead, Michael Jackson Albums

Jun 21 Listen Michael Jackson Music, Free Michael Jackson Music

Jun 1 Michael Jackson Video Clip, Michael Jackson And Prabhu Deva Performing Together

Google Trends in contarst, is showing the following news under its News results section:

As you can see, the recent news at Google Trends related to the celebrity, who is no more now, is of march 5, 2009. when we clicked on the link to see what the news is, we landed on to a page with an article : Michael Jackson Announces Concerts.

-------------------------------------------------------------

As evident from the above while Bing is showing the most up to date data as of today, Google is still announcing the news of the celebrity Announcing concerts.

Does it mean, Google is still unaware of the fact that Michael is no more.

This clearly shows that Google is seriously lagging behind in providing the latest updated information to its users. Although its not a matter of major concern but it does show Google's negligence on staying up to date with the latest search data.

While this may not give enough reason to the regular Google users to switch over to Bing. It does indicate that Google needs to improve its search features to maintain its market dominance. Right now , Google Trends is looking utterly stupid in front of Bing xRank. --------
