Google Voice offers its users the convenience to route calls to multiple phones using a single phone number. Up until now, it placed the calls through Google Voice's Web interface instead of using mobile phones.
This is how it works - Google Voice gives a ring to the caller and also the person being called and thus the two parties are connected to each other.
But on Wednesday, Google announced that Google Voice users will now be able to make Google Voice calls directly from their mobile phones. As Google is planning to release two applications to make it work-- one of the applications will run on Blackberry phones and the other will run on Android phones.
Next to come is an app for the iPhone for Google Voice.
The Google Voice app offer various features to its users like using their mobile phones to get access to their inbox, placing calls, sending SMS messages with the Google Voice number and making low-rate international calls.
Users save money on SMS messages because they don't have to pay for them as SMS messages are sent by Google. The Google Voice apps also give users the choice to decide whether all of the calls or only international calls or none of the calls get routed through Google Voice.
