Google faces a setback in Nexus Trademark battle

Amidst reports from analytic firms about weak initial sales for Google’s Nexus One and increasing vendor number at the same time (Google currently selling the Android phone on T-Mobile, AT&T, and Rogers Wireless Networks in its Web store; with the company recently announcing its inclusion of Sprint support for Nexus One this spring and another mention of including Verizon and Vodafone 3G networks later this year); Google has received a setback in its battle (currently on at the U.S. Patent and Trademark office)to get the right to use the trademark For Nexus One name.

The battled trademark (registered under good/services) which is currently with, a communications company based in Portland Oregon is a must get for Google, who considers the registered mark No. 3554195 for the word Nexus, filed on behalf of Integra Telecom Holdings, Inc., as a major confusion creating.

Though a setback, this is not the end of road for Google, as this is not the final determination of Google’s trademark application for Nexus One. The company will now respond to any issues that initially caused USPTO to deny the application, and try with more resolve. --------
