Sprint Nextel is expected to unveil a cellphone from HTC Corp at its press event on March 23 during the annual CTIA industry trade show. The new phone, which an analyst relying on its sources calls HTC Supersonic, will be the first to support WiMax, Sprint's fastest wireless service.
Analysts expect the new phone to support Sprint's CDMA network and the higher speed WiMax network operated by Clearwire Corp.
Sprint had earlier committed to have a WiMax phone on the market later this year, but it has not announced a specific launch date.
