According to some stories, Listings for iPad 2 cases at Alibaba.com have reportedly been removed on a case by case basis (as and when someone reports the presence of some iPad2 case) by an unnamed company which everyone presumes to be Apple. While some examples of the cases ar removed some are still on line and waiting for removal.
According to a blog posting at the Wall Street Journal, AliBaba’s “Group Spokesman”, John Spelich, is quoted as saying: “We do not know whether these products are what they say they are, but we have received a legitimate takedown request and are removing the listings.”
Surfacing of iPad 2 cases, with slots and holes not required in the current iPad is a thought provoking development; as why will a manufacturer invest in some case design which is not made for current iPad.
On a close scrutiny most of these iPad2 cases are stated to be perfect fit for the current iPad; bringing in the inference that says may be someone wants to take advantage of the craze for the current and the next iteration of the popular tablet; but looking at the high aesthetic demands of iPad users, this inference doesn’t look viable.
