Using kinect to Help Blind people See

Initially, when Geeks started tinkering with Kinect, Microsoft's motion gaming peripheral, they rolled out uses that are more fun and entertainment than real use. But with couple of months of fun, the Kinect modifications have now becoming increasingly useful.

Take for this instance this latest one -- Making Kinect help Blind people see!

A project by graduate students Michael Zollner and Stephan Huber at the Universität Konstanz in Germany; the creation is a human-head-mountable system (to make the system see where the user looks) that looks for relevant data -- that could be anything from upcoming obstacles to optically-accessible information like QR codes.
