LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer tablet for your Tech loving Toddler

Many laptop or tablet using parents know that even four year olds want to lay their hands on dad or mum’s device all the time. Which can be a real problem, not only considering the constant disturbance; but also on rationalizing “whether it’s good to hand over a toddler a device meant for the grown ups”.

For the same reasons above, devices made especially for kids, mimicking looks and some features of devices of grown ups, find a market for themselves.

Educational toymaker LeapFrog Enterprises on Tuesday unveiled its new LeapPad Explorer touchscreen tablet computer for kids. The tablet which costs $99, is already up for pre-orders.

The company has previewed the tiny, 5-inch LeapPad in February this year, and will make it available to the buyers on August 15.Watch teh video below:



Sharing the foundation philosophy of LeapFrog's products, the LeapPad Explorer Tablet is educational, with more than 100 games and applications designed to improve a child’s creativity and school performance.

The tablet has a rugged exterior and includes a bright 480-by-272 display and a resistive screen ( which requires a little pressure when swiping or using the stylus). There’s also a built-in VGA camera (640 x 480 pixels) for taking pictures and videos. The tablet also has an accelerometer for tilt control gaming. That apart, a cartridge slot for playing LeapFrog's Leapster Explorer titles is also there. Among features to increase the kid engagement , is the ability to customize the tablet with Kid’s name, picture, wallpaper and also rear a virtual pet
One thing which parents will particularly appreciate is the pre-loaded Story Studio app for producing custom e-books, including an "All About Me" book that kids can fill with custom pages about their birthday, friends, family, favorite things, pets and future plans. Children can also add their own artwork and sound effects, and parents can share the e-books through email and Facebook. Taking into consideration, the importance of sharing in today’s higly connected world, parents can share almost everything, right from the books the kid has created, the drawing he/she has made to the game scores he has made, trough email and on Facebook.

And although a cartridge slot is available for backward compatibility with Leapster Explorer titles, all LeapPad titles will be downloaded to the device’s 2 GB of internal memory through the LeapFrog Connect software, Techlicious.com reported.

Pricing for videos, interactive e-books, games and creativity applications and flash cards, reportedly range from $5 to $20.
