Mercury launches under Rupees 10k Gingerbread Tablet in India

Mercury, a rather unknown name in the PC peripherals and components makers, has launched the mTab tablet.

The mTab Tablet, which measures 19.3 x 11.7 x 1.4 cm and weighs 400 grams, runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and is the latest entrant in the cheap android tablets.

mTablet has the following specs:

1) Has a 7" WVGA (800x480) capacitive touch screen with multi-touch support.

2) Powered by a 1.2 GHz Telechip 8803 Cortex A8 processor with three cores.

3) Has 512 MB RAM.

4) 4 GB internal storage, which can be extendable to 36 GB with an additional 32 GB option via a memory card.

5) Has a front 1.3 MP camera, useful for video conferencing.

6) Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, an external 3G USB module, which will be made available with 3G packages bundled along with the tablet for free internet surfing. PC connectivity is provided via a USB 2.0 port, while a 3.5 mm stereo jack lets you plug in headphones.

7) Elevating itself as a multimedia device, the mTablet supports playback of several popular video formats including Divx, MPG, and MP4, in addition to the most popular audio formats up to 1080p using the HDMI output.

8) Has a 4000 mAh battery which provides about four hours of video playback.

9) Supports motion sensing 3D games using the in-built G sensor.
