Taking pride of the success of its 7 inch Kindle Fire, industry sources have recently reported that there’s a great possibility for Amazon to release its two new models of Kindle tablets. Not much has been told about these slates though. From what we have heard, both slates will be offered for a very affordable cost. Sadly, we are yet to dig for more info since the specs and features were left untold.

As for the first Amazon Kindle tablet, it will be flaunting a 7 inch display and will also be sold for a price that’s similar to the Kindle Fire. The said $199 budget-friendly tablet will be eventually be powered by Android but we don’t know if it’s going to be based on Ice Cream Sandwich, Gingerbread or Honeycomb. Industry sources further stated that the said slate will be launched sometime within the second quarter of 2012.

On the other hand, the second slate will be equipped with a 10.1 inch display and will most likely be priced somewhere in between $249 to $299. There’s no official word as to when this tablet will be released in the market but it was stated that HannsTouch will be part of the new suppliers that will be providing the slate’s touch sensors.

Apart from the two new Amazon tablets that will be released this year, there were also reports stating that Amazon plans to release two additional tablets. However, the possibility for these slates to be released in the market remains unclear. Aside from the 8.9 inch Kindle Tablet, a super affordable 7 inch Amazon tablet has recently been leaked. If ever it will be released, its price will most likely fall under the category of those tablets that you can buy for less than $170. To be more specific, the said tablet will be offered for $169.

iBerry India, a Chennai based brand associated with the manufacture of low cost Android tablets in India, is soon going to launch its first Google Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) tablet in the country.

Initially, iBerry entered the Indian market with two Android models, the BT07 7 inch version and the BT10 10 inch tablet, launched a couple of months ago.

Specs and Features of iBerry’s upcoming ICS tablet, the iBerry Auxus AX02:

1) 7 inch capacitive touch display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution

2) 1 GHz processor with dedicated graphics core for speed and better graphic capabilities

3) 1 GB of DDR2 RAM

Amazon launches 200 dollar Android Tablet: Kindle Fire

Some of the top blogs and media outlets who have received the Amazon.com's press invite for September 20 2011 event, sent out Friday, mentioning simply, "Please join us for an Amazon.com press conference" , are already speculating what the purpose of the event may be. And the unanimous speculation is: the online e-commerce giant will be launching its Android tablet PC in the said event.

So what will be revealed in the event? Courtesy the speculation, Amazon is going to announce, an early launch date and the tablet price. Amazon is reportedly selling its tablet for more than half the price of the Apple’s iPad 2 version, which was priced at $499.

Regarding specs, courtesy TC, the still unnamed Amazon tablet features a full-color 7-inch touchscreen and resembles Research in Motion's BlackBerry PlayBook. The tablet will also be back-lit unlike the e-ink Kindle e-readers. Rumors are that the tablet is going to be one of the first tablets to have Android Icecream Sandwitch which is simply HoneyComb and Gingerbread combined together' although some other reports say that rather than using Android, Amazon has branched off android, and built their own 'special concostion' into it, so its not honeycomb and its definitely not ICS. The tablet is also said to have NO camera.

If yes, then one more tablet adds to your choice list (From the specifications sheet, mTab Tablet looks a good buy).

Mercury, a rather unknown name in the PC peripherals and components makers, has launched the mTab tablet.

The mTab Tablet, which measures 19.3 x 11.7 x 1.4 cm and weighs 400 grams, runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and is the latest entrant in the cheap android tablets.

mTablet has the following specs:

1) Has a 7" WVGA (800x480) capacitive touch screen with multi-touch support.

2) Powered by a 1.2 GHz Telechip 8803 Cortex A8 processor with three cores.

3) Has 512 MB RAM.

4) 4 GB internal storage, which can be extendable to 36 GB with an additional 32 GB option via a memory card.

Mercury launches under Rupees 10k Gingerbread Tablet in India

Bharti Enterprises Ltd., on Wednesday launched an Indian Rupees 9,999 ($220) 7-inch Google android based tablet in India. The tablet by Beetel Teletech Ltd., a unit of Bharti Enterprises Ltd., is aimed at capitalizing on the expected demand for cheap computing devices in the world's fastest-growing and second-largest mobile phone market.

Beetel Teletech's tablet, named Beetel Magiq, comes with a mobile radio and WiFi chip and runs on Android 2.2 Operating system. The tablet runs on an unnamed 1 Gigahertz chipset processor and contains a front and rear facing 2 megapixel camera.

Notably, India's second largest mobile services company, Reliance Communications Ltd., launched a similar $286, 7-inch Android tablet in India last week.

With the launch the two telecom players hope to offer cheap computing devices to those Indians, mostly in the country's rural areas, a viable alternative to at least 50 percent more pricier Personal Computers. The two companies hope that people in India will readily accept cheaper tablet computers to access internet, just as they adopted mobile phones to access telephone services before owning a landline phone; and finally transitioning to the smartphones from the basic mobile phones.

Notably, the above cheap tablet launches by top telecom companies in India are aimed at increasing data usage to help boost revenue and margins in a market where stiff competition has kept call tariffs at less than one U.S. cent a minute. ---------

With tablet screen size unanimously settling at Apple iPad size, it’s interesting to see some players still putting their money on tablets with a screen much smaller. In what is likely to be the first of many smaller-screen Honeycomb tablets to hit store shelves, Huawei announced some of late as well, Acer on Friday launched the seven-inch Iconia A100 line of tablets.

The new tablet will run Android 3.2, the first version of Honeycomb to support the smaller screen resolution. The Acer Iconia A100 supports dual displays, meaning that the tablet can be used as a controller. The product also has a MicroSD card reader, allowing people to easily extend the storage above 32 GB.

Price & availability: The new tablets which weigh under a bound (less than 420 grams), are available immediately at major retailers in the US. The tablet will be available in Canada next month. A 16GB model is priced at $349, while an 8GB model has a suggested $329 price tag. ---------

Sharp has unveiled Galapagos A01SH tablet, the company’s latest model is the third device in the Galapagos Line.

The company has packed Sharp Galapagos A01SH with the following:

A 7″ display at 1,024 x 600 resolution, is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 2 1GHz chipset, a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus capability and LED flash, a 2-megapixel front camera for video calling. The tablet runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system and has 7.5 hours of battery life.

Availability and Pricing: The tablet will be available in Japan end August and later this year outside Japan. There’s no word on pricing yet. ---------

Entering the tablet PC market (majorly dominated by two generations of Apple's iPad and scores of tablets from other PC and consumer electronics manufacturers, running on Google's Android software) rather late; HP officially entered the tablet arena on Friday, I July 2011.
HP TouchPad which runs on WebOS -- the mobile operating system developed by Palm, which HP acquired for a big $1.2 billion in early 2010; can think of giving an equal fight to Apple’s iPad, on a few fronts.

One such area is the screen size. The HP TouchPad has the same screen size as that of Apple iPad (both 1 and 2) – a 9.7-inch display with a 1024-by-768 pixel resolution. This experts think is a big factor as one recent study finds that Most iPad tablet users want a tablet with a display equal to iPad’s and are not opting for a 7 inch screen.

Another point where HP Touchpad finds itself at right footing with Apple iPad is its price. HP TouchPad has a price equal to the iPad ($499 for a 16-gigabyte wi-fi-only model and $599 for a 32-gigabyte wi-fi-only model). With HP planning to roll out TouchPads in more colors, and running on 3G cellular networks, later in the year.

BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) on Wednesday launched its BlackBerry PlayBook tablet in India. Popular movie actor Salman Khan did the unveiling.

Powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB Ram (both mean faster processing and rendering), Blackberry playbook has a 7" LCD display, 1024 x 600 screen resolution, High resolution, WSVGA, capacitive screen with 4-finger multi-touch and gesture support. The tablet has a 5 MP rear camera and a 3 MP front camera for video chat.

The tablet can multi-task and supports Adobe Flash & HTML5. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Good thing is, to enrich the lives of Blackberry Playbook users, RIM has recently launched Facebook application for Playbook as well.

According to a survey by Bernstein Research, a tablet buyer wants Apple ipad or something very similar.

The survey found that when asked, which tablet they want? 50% of consumers said they want an iPad, and the rest want something that’s very similar to an iPad. Call it Apple effect, but respondents also gave an impression that ‘a device will be called a Tablet’ if it’s a display equals to that of Apple iPad. Which indirectly meant that the 7” tablet models recently launched, like the BlackBerry PlayBook, don’t stand well in the consumer perception. According to Mac Observer, it means that 7” tablets are destined for failure.

In addition, the survey found that in the US, Apple has more than double the brand appeal of BlackBerry, HTC, Motorola, Nokia and Samsung combined.
