Sony Launches 13-MP LTE Smartphone & Lightest LTE Smartphone

For the first time, Sony has launched two smartphones, exclusively for the Japanese market. Yesterday, Sony Mobile Communications launched two new Android-based LTE smartphones (4G smartphones) for the Japanese market; the Xperia SX and the Xperia GX.

Sony Xperia GX:

The phone is pricier of the two and sports a 13-megapixel camera. It has a bigger (compared to Xperia SX) 4.6-inch HD screen and 16GB of internal flash storage.

Sony XPeria SX: Lighter of the two, weighing in just 95 grams, Sony Xperia SX is thus world’s lightest LTE smartphone. SX has a 3.7-inch screen, has 8GB of internal flash storage and an 8-megapixel camera.

What is common to both Sony Xperia GX and SX:

Both can download at speeds of up to 75 Mbps over LTE networks (9 Mega Bytes per second), are powered by 1.5GHz dual-core processors and will run Android 4.0 ( Ice Cream Sandwich).

Sony has previously announced the LTE-equipped Xperia ion for the U.S. market, which has a 12-megapixel camera.

Availability: Both LTE smartphones will start shipping in Japan during the summer. No word is out on pricing yet. No word is out on whether the phones will be available outside Japan and if yes, then when.
