7.9 Inch Apple iPad Mini Launched

7.9 Inch Apple iPad Mini has been Launched. iPad Mini is powered by an A5 processor, is light in weight and even small text is easily readable (text readability is important as Mini has to compete with 7 inch eBook Readers as well ). It's reported that the IPS screen has great wide-viewing angles.

The iPad Mini is 7.2mm thick and is about 300 gms in weight.

The Mini has the same display as iPad 2 and 4th generation iPad, has the same 1,024 x 768 resolution as the iPad2; hence apps will carry across without any resizing.

Talking of the display, since iPad Mini's 0.9-inch larger than the Nexus 7, the iPad mini offers 35 percent more display area than Google and ASUS' collaboration Nexus 7. This is because, Displays are measured diagonally, so even a small increment to the display size adds much to the display size. For the same reason, the display size of iPad (9.5 inches) is almost double of a 7 inch tablet.

The other specs include, a front-facing 720p-capable FaceTime camera, a 5-megapixel rear camera. The connectivity options in Mini include: 4G LTE, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi at 5.2Ghz, Bluetooth 4.0, and Apple's Lightning connector, first seen on the iPhone 5. Higher version of iPad mini will have LTE connectivity too.

Apple claims that the Mini has a 10-hour battery life.

Apple iPad Mini Price: Apple iPad Mini Wi-Fi model in three memory configurations starting on November 2: $329 for 16GB, $429 for 32GB, and $529 for 64GB. Two weeks later on November 16, we'll see Wi-Fi + 4G models hit the shelves at $459 for 16GB, $559 for 32GB, and $659 for 64GB.

Pre-orders for the $329, 16GB WiFi-only model begin on Friday (October 26th) and will begin shipping on November 2nd. The cellular-equipped models will begin shipping a few weeks afterward on AT&T, Verizon and Sprint, with the 16GB base model costing $459, running all the way to $659 for the 64GB unit.

Notably, the iPad Mini is manufactured with the same process as iPhone 5, hence its has the same anodized edges, which one finds on the iPhone 5.
