Tood Treece, has used Apple's voice-activated personal assistant Siri with some additional hardware to control a TV.

With his effort, Tood managed to change channels and switch the TV off with just voice commands.

Her is how the thing works: The Iphone sends a command to an Arduino microcontroller via transmission control protocol (TCP) and the required information is gathered from a TV guide web site. This project is based on the same open source proxy code, created by plamoni. Watch the demo video below:

Siri on the iPhone 4S, opening doors for you, is not a wishful thinking any more.

Courtesy the efforts of an enterprising hacker from Australia, that day may have arrived sooner than anyone expected.

Marcus Schappi, who calls his Siri enabled system the Ninja board, is using his creation to control nearly everything in his home. Marcus who plans to bring his NB it to the commercial market, early next year, is currently busy building a microcontroller, along with his friends; So that you don’t have to spend sleepless nights creating one using a microprocessor, IT and networking skills.

Below is a demo video of mark’s efforts, showing how he controls a lamp and opens a website on his laptop using only his voice via Siri and the Ninja board.

Using the SiriProxy, created by plamoni, here's a guy creating his home control system.

SiriProxy allows the guy to add Siri questions/answers/commands to control gadgets in his home. In this demo, Siri is executing a command which dims my lights and turns on my fireplace (via X10 home automation & "firecracker" serial X10 interface).

Just as Kinect, Microsoft’s motion gaming peripheral, Siri, a virtual assistant in Apple’s iPhone4S, has caught the attention of sharp brains. And they are busy using Siri in unimaginable ways. For instance, Josh Evans and Ollie Hay have employed Siri, to create a gizmo that makes use of EEG pads to detect brain waves, allowing Siri to be controlled through mind control, instead of voice. Siri amused the world, when Apple iPhone 4S was launched last month. Now only 5 weeks of its existence, Siri is amusing the hackers equally. And hackers have already started showing the world their Siri feats.

A Siri Proxy server created, by Plamoni (creator’s name), using Ruby, which managed to control a thermostat; is now being used to control a Viper carremote, by another sharp brain named Brandon, letting him turn his car on and off using Siri commands on his iPhone 4S!

How the Siri controlled carremote works:

The "Siri Proxy" plugin handles interaction with a php script that runs on Brandon’s web server. The php script, allows Brandon send commands to my car which has a Viper SmartStart module installed.
