Mobile telecom service provider Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTL) has sought clarifications from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on the lock-in period. In addition TTL was awarded the cross-over spectrum in February 2008.
So what is Lock-in-Period?
It is the period during which a company can’t sell its stakes after getting the license and spectrum.
What is cross-over spectrum allocation?
A spectrum allocated to a company to provide GSM, in addition to its existing CDMA services.
Some Facts about TTL:
*A CDMA service provider.
*Total investment across India during the past 10 years (started in 1997): Rs. 25000 crore
*Investment of Tata Sons (the holding company) in TTL: Rs 3,800 crore (45%)
*Share of Tata Communications in TTL: 15 %( second largest share-holder after Tata Sons).
