iPhone OS 3.0 Stresses App Developers

By Mani Raj

On Thursday, application developers received a surprise from Apple.

Apple informed developers via e-mail that millions of iPhone and iPod Touch customers will switch to iPhone OS (Operating System) 3.0 this summer. Therefore it has changed its application review policy.

Apple suggested developers to begin testing their apps(applications) since iPhone SDK(Software Development Kit) 3.0 beta 5 is now available on the iPhone developer website.

Some application developers are stressed over the time it will take them to learn the new operating system because Apple added a huge amount of new APIs (Application Programming Interface).

These changes may also force developers to invest more money in technology to test new apps running on Operating System-3.0. This could create extra overhead cost for struggling small developers which could put some of them out of business.

Industry experts believe that Apple's developer change had multiple reasons - including getting rid of bad applications that have been approved earlier but received bad publicity for being vulgar or offensive, or which don't offer a real value to the customers.
