By Mani Raj

The first jailbreak application for Apple's new iPhone 3GS is available now. Its released just two weeks after the iPhone's debut.

A 19-year-old Google employee, George Hotz who is originally from New Jersey has created the application.

Jailbreaking the iPhone 3GS will allow a user to install any programs directly onto the iPhone. This includes applications that are not sold by Apple via the App Store.

George Hotz has provided a step-by-step explanation on how to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS, in his blog.

In his blog, George warns users to be prepared by getting Windows (but not Windows 7) installed on a PC, the latest iTunes installed, and an iPhone 3GS with 3.0 firmware. He also warns potential jailbreakers to first back up all their files and programs.

There have been mixed reactions to his blog post about jailbreaking. Some people were concerned about their jailbreaking attempts, while others praised him and his development team for their hard work.

A few iPhone 3GS owners were stuck with a frozen iPhone after installing WinterBoard - an open-source application that allows users to apply themes to their iPhone.
