Global Mobile phone sales in Q2 2009

According to a Gartner report, quoted here, the Global mobile phone sales in Apr-Jun 2009 quarter has declined compared to the corresponding quarter last year.

Global mobile phone sales in Q2 2009_____________ 286.1 million units
Global mobile phone sales in Q2 2008_____________ 304.6 million units
Drop in sales (YoY)________________________ 6.1 percent


But segments like Smart phones proved to be savior. The global smart phone sales for Apr-Jun 2009 quarter are up 27 percent compared to the corresponding quarter last year. Making Smart phones the fastest growing segment of the mobile devices market.
