Google acquires Episodic

To get an extra help for its YouTube video service, Google has acquired another startup—Episodic.

Episodic, a San Francisco based company, provides a platform for streaming live video on the Web. Of late, YouTube has been showing more live video besides showing more than 500 million clips that are continuously available on its site.

The current acquisition marks Google's fifth acquisition so far this year.Google earlier has said that it intends to buy at least a company per month in 2010; as part of its effort to develop more products and import more talented engineers.

The money required for the buy is coming from Google’s $24.5 billion cash trove. Terms of the deal announced Friday weren't disclosed. --------
