Samsung Galaxy S phones to be sold by 5 top U.S. operators

Samsung Electronics has said that five of the top six U.S. service providers will be going to sell phones from its Galaxy S range based on Google Inc's Android software.

Galaxy S range of phones, which have high resolution screens aimed at media consumption on mobile, and will be competing with Apple Inc's iPhone(sold exclusively by AT&T in US), which quickly sold 1.7 million of its latest iPhone 4 in the U.S. and other countries.

Which operator to sell which model?

Verizon Wireless, the number 1 U.S. mobile service, will sell the Fascinate Galaxy S phone, which has a mini-keyboard and a fast processor. The Fantastic will be in addition to several other Android phones that Verizon Wireless already sells including HTC's Droid Incredible and the Droid X Motorola Inc.

AT&T the No. 2 U.S. mobile service said earlier this month that it would sell a Galaxy S device known as the Samsung Captivate.

Sprint Nextel Corp, the 3rd largest U.S. mobile service provider, will sell a version of Galaxy X that it’ll brand as the Samsung Epic 4G. Samsung Epic 4G, will be only the second U.S. phone to support Sprint's fourth generation high-speed wireless service, following the EVO phone from HTC Corp.

The Galaxy S model coming to the No. 4 U.S. mobile service T-Mobile USA, a unit of Deutsche Telekom, is the Vibrant. This model is pre-loaded with services such as access to e-books from Amazon.com Inc.

US Cellular, the 6th biggest US mobile operator, will sell a touchscreen version of a device of the series, which will be branded as Galaxy S. --------
