25 percent of all tablets will be bought by Enterprises in 2011

According to Consultancy firm Deloitte,

Companies will buy more than 10 million tablet computers this year.

This is in line with recent research from Gartner, which sees the global market for Apple's iPad, rising to 55 million devices this year from 19.5 million in 2010 (a 182 percent growth compared to 2010). Gartner’s forecast is very ambitious though.

Deloitte forecast for the entire tablet market for 2011 is 50 million. Means compared to Gartner, Deloitte is less ambitious with its forecast for iPad; OR both are giving very less space to the other players.

This is contrary to, what many experts view tablets as -- multiple media-consumption devices only for non-enterprise consumers ( but not all media seemed to be consumed with enthusiasm, even by these consumers) and they find the status quo to continue in 2011 as well.

But Deloitte says that more than 25 percent of all tablet computers will be bought by enterprises and that figure is likely to rise in 2012 and beyond.

Our view: Although right now, tablets are popular owing to their compatibility for particular categories, like gaming, utility apps and app ecosystem (apps that are available to a particular tablet); in 2011 things should move to more PC like uses. The reason is, with so many big players launching their tablets, spending huge money on research and Development, the sector has reached a stage where no one can afford to retreat. So tablets are going to be more bug free and more PC like, in utility. And that means tablets becoming a device for enterprises.

If the firms are going to be more comfortable with the use of Social networks in their campuses in 2011; then adoption for mobile device like tablet will get a boost too.

In addition, as Deloitte has also said, tablet makers will try to enrich their app ecosystem for less touched or entirely new sectors. Deloitte said healthcare and retail sectors alone could purchase some 5 million tablets this year. --------
