Acknowledging the presence of entertainment away from a traditional TV, MTV has plans to launch an online-only awards show for digital content. These awards will be additional to its stable of video and movie awards, reports Mashable.
The awards, still in development, are planned to take place in spring this year.
The online-only awards show will will be acknowledging the feats of online “social conversation”.
Some possible categories for the awards could be “Best Music App” or “Best Tweet” with the audience as the judges, reports the social news Blog.
MTV already has esposure to the digital world; with a dedicated TJ (Twitter Jockey), as well as numerous partnerships with social media companies like Foursquare.
