Rockstar Games announced that the launch of Grand Theft Auto III on iOS and Android-based devices will take place on Dec. 15.
Grand Theft Auto III: 10 Year Anniversary Edition will be available for $4.99 in the App Store and the Android Market.
On the eve of the tenth anniversary of the series in October (GTA III first launched on PlayStation 2 in 2001); Rockstar released a version of the game for iOS, but on December 15 it’s proliferating the game to more devices, including the latest iPhone.
GTA III proved to be most popular title of the Game maker and one of the most influential open-world format games in the past ten years. The Game is set in the New York-inspired Liberty City,
Overall, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has sold more than 114 million copies worldwide since it first appeared in 1997.
Compatibility:
Will be compatible with the original iPad and the iPad 2, the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, and the fourth-generation iPod touch. Android devices that will be compatible with the game will be HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, and T-Mobile G2x.
GTA III is also launching on various Android tablets, including the Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, (now defunct) Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, the Sony Tablet S, and Toshiba Thrive.
