Archos brings iPad For Kids : Arnova Child Pad Available For Preorder

Heard of the Arnova Child Pad tablet?

It’s is the same tablet, from Archos, a French electronics maker, which is affectionately being called iPad for kids.

The Arnova Child Pad tablet is now available on preorder from Play.com. At a price of £95 or Approx. USD 150.

The tablet is due for an April 10 release.

Arnova Child Pad tablet specs and features, which make for a pretty impressive configuration, are as under:

1) A 7-inch resistive dual touch display with a 800 by 480 pixels screen resolution
2) Runs on Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich
3) Powered by a single core 1GHz processor (possibly a Cortex-A8 based Rockchip RK model)
4) 1GB RAM
5) 4GB built in storage
6) A microSD card slot
7) A front facing camera
8) Connectivity Options include: A microUSB port, WiFi
9) Battery Life: up to eight hours video playback (twice that when listening to music).
10) Access to a special app store called "Kids App Store", Archos specially created for kids. The store contains 10,000 apps categories in 14 sections and has bundled 28 games with the tablet.

The device has a neat and decent looking plastic finish, easy enough to clean. The rubberised enclosure makes for a secure grip.

With the Arnova Child Pad tablet, Archos has pitted itself against two main competitors, the Innotab and the Leappad. Price is good, it is claimed as the Fastest Tablet Under £100 yet; if the Archos tablet is durable, then it can carve out a bigger share for itself in booming children tablet market.
